Bakiput is really an isolated sea beach nearby (around 3KM) Junput which is again around 9KM from Contai. The only available accomodation is Jhinuk Residency. Although if you go with a sea beach in mind, you might be dissapointed as most of the time, during low tide, sea goes far off from there and the only thing left is white muddy sand. You have to walk around 3KM in that muddy sand to reach the sea. The place is more of a outlet (Estuary). But during high tide (at the night after 9PM and again at morning after 9AM) the sea becomes accessible nearby the hotel and you can enjoy the sea right there. The Jhinuk Residency itself is a no frills two storyed hotel. The rooms and washrooms are quite clean and well managed. The staffs are extremely helpful and cordial. They have around 6 Double Bed Room and 1 Four Bed Room and all of them have AC. The rooms on First Floor ofcourse offers great views of the forest and sea beach nearby. One have to set in with the meal package offered by the Jhinuk Residency only. The meal package contains Lunch (Rice, Dal, Bhaji, Salad, Sabji, Fresh Fish, Chutney, Papad, Mishti), Evening Snacks (Chiken and Onion Pakodas) with Tea, Dinner (Rice / Roti, Dal, Bhaji, Salad, Sabji, Chicken, Chutney & Misti) and on next morning Bed Tea and Breakfast (Generally Puri & Sabji). The port originated in 2010 in the then West Bengal's then-fashioned MK Narayanan. The port has been developed in 11.8 hectares of land. The port is one of India's 7th largest fishing ports.[2] The port has 400 deep sea fishing trawlers and 200 traditional trawlers. One ice mill| ice house| fake fabric center and trailer oil sales center at the port. It has also been proposed to build a trailer repair center here. Construction of the harbour began during the Left Front regime in 2005. The project was announced on 1 March 2005 by the fisheries minister Kiranmoy Nanda with a budget of 32 cores half of which was to be given by the centre and rest by the state.This was the sixth fishing port in the state established the others being 2 in Shankarpur,and 1 each in Kakdwip,Frazergunj and Diamond Harbour.The construction was completed in 2010.[4] The cost of construction of the port is estimated to be 200 crore. In the first phase, the port costing 60 crore was spent. The second step has started. This step will build a dry dock at the port.
